What is Mesh?
Mesh is an email security system which actively filters your incoming email. It will remove any known threats such as viruses or malware.
It will also quarantine any email which looks suspicious, or is not yet a confirmed threat.
Why do we use Mesh?
Your existing email solution, be that Microsoft 365 or Google Mail, has a degree of protection against email threats, but it is far from perfect. These systems offer basic protection but do very little to filter our spam and unwanted marketing email.
Additionally, if an email which is already in your inbox is subsequently identified as dangerous, these systems do nothing to remove them, wherease Mesh has the ability to automatically remove any known threats from your inbox, even after they have been delivered.
How does it work?
When we enable Mesh for your email system, you will immediately see a reduction in the volume of junk email that lands in your inbox. You will find that some legitimate email will get quarantined by Mesh, but fortunately this is very easy to deal with.
By default, Mesh will send you a digest email 3 times a day, at 9am, 12pm and 4pm. This schedule can be adjusted to suit your business.
The digest email will show you all the email that Mesh has blocked, and unless it's a known threat, you will be able to release the email immediately.
Mesh will keep any quarantined email for 28 days before automatically deleting it.
Note that if an email is identified as a threat, you will not be able to deliver it immediately, you can click the "Request" button, which will then notify your IT support team, who will be able to review the email and confirm it is safe, before releasing it into your inbox.
Rather than wait for the next digest email to land, you can request a digest email at any time, by clicking the button in the footer of any recent digest email:
If you like, you can also manage your personal Mesh account by logging into it. This is optional, but very useful if you want to set up custom whitelists or blacklists, to ensure that certain senders or domains are always allowed, or always blocked.
Will my existing "Junk" folder still work?
If you're using our Mesh Unified product, which is the most feature-rich version of the system, you will find that your existing Junk folder stay pretty much empty, unless you manually reclassify any delivered email
You will find a lot less email lands in your Junk folder, but it may still be worth checking it if you're looking for an email which you were expecting, but cannot find in your inbox.
If you use the feature within Outlook to Block a sender, this will normally continue to work as-is, with Mesh delivering the email directly to your Junk folder. If you would prefer a blocked sender to not de delivered at all, you can can create a block rule within your Mesh peronal portal.
If you require that a sender be blocked from email your entire organisation, please direct this request to your IT support team who will be able to action this for you.
